Chaldean National Flag from A - Z

The first version of the Chaldean National flag was designed in 1985. It was officially recognized by the International Chaldean Visual Artists Association in 1997. Since its adoption, it proved to be a symbol of pride and unity among Chaldeans. Due to the fact that its genuine symbols are derived from their journey of over 7300 years. In other words, it represents the Chaldeans’ true national identity.

Since April 2011, Chaldeans worldwide celebrated the 7311Akitu festival (Chaldean Babylonian New Year). Chaldeans in Iraq and all over the world, young and old, proudly took to the streets in joy parades carrying the Chaldean National Flags of all sizes.

In 2011 and 2013, the two Universal Chaldean Conventions in San Diego, California and in Michigan, USA have unanimously approved the flag as the only legitimate Chaldean National Flag that represents our Chaldean Nation.

Description of the Chaldean Flag

The Chaldean Flag, which was designed by the Chaldean international artist Amer Hanna Fatuhi comprises of two vertical lines in blue pantone 300 C, and a Mesopotamian eight-fold star with two internal circles. The outer circle is pantone yellow C, and the inner circle is blue pantone 300 C. The two vertical lines are close to the outer edges of the flag in its traditional proportion (its length = one time and a half its width). On the white square in between them, there is the Chaldean Babylonian eight-fold star from which blue rays radiate, pantone 300 C. The beams of the eight-fold star contain two interlaced pantone red 485 C triangles separated by an angle made up of two connected white lines.

Visual Elements of the Chaldean Flag

The two vertical lines represent the eternal rivers: Tigris and the Euphrates which spring from the north and flow into the south of the Mesopotamian land. They signify abundance and generosity, whereas the sides, the eight beams and the yellow disc of the sun signify goodness, justice, equality and civilization. If we add the inner blue circle representing the moon, they would then signify the major celestial bodies according to the Chaldean Babylonian belief. The two circles implicitly signify the Chaldean cultural contributions in all areas of knowledge particularly ancient Chaldean astronomy, the cornerstone of modern astronomy.

Chaldean Flag Day

The Chaldean Flag Day is in honor of  king Nabopolassar founder of the Imperial Chaldean Dynasty who is also hailed as the liberator of Babylon on May 17^th ,4674  (in the  Chaldean calendar), 626 BC. Six months later, on November 23, 626 BC, Nabopolassar assumed the Babylonian throne.

About the Artist

Visual artist and historian Amer Hanna Fatuhi is the sole creator and designer of the Chaldean National Flag in all its versions since 1985.

Amer Hanna Fatuhi is also know being the winner of the only two competitions to design the Iraqi National Flag in 1986 and 2008.

 مبروك 17 آيار يوم العلم الكلداني

السابع عشر من آيار (17 آيار) يوم خالد في ضمائر جميع الكلدان في الوطن الأم العراق العزيز والعالم

علم الكلدان القومي من الألف إلى الياء

تم تصميم النسخة الأولى من العلم القومي الكلداني عام 1985م. تم الإعتراف بالعلم القومي الكلداني رسمياً في عام 1997م من قبل الرابطة الدولية للفنانين التشكيليين الكلدان. منذ تبنيه رسمياً أثبت العلم القومي الكلداني بصفته رمزاً للإفتخار والإتحاد ما بين الكلدان، وذلك لأن رموزه الأصيلة مستمدة من رحلة الكلدان عبر ما يزيد على 7300 عام. بتعبير آخر فأن العلم القومي الكلداني يعبر بشكل حقيقي عن الهوية القومية الكلدانية.

منذ عام 2011م خرج الكلدان في العراق والعالم كباراً وصغاراً في مسيرات إفتخار إحتفالية بمناسبة رأس السنة الكلدانية البابلية (أكيتو) رافعين العلم القومي الكلداني بمختلف الأحجام.

في عام 2011م وفي عام 2013م أقيم أول مؤتمرين كلدانيين عالميين في سان دييغو / كاليفورني وفي ولاية ميشغان / الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، حيث تم التصويت فيهما بالإجماع على شرعية العلم القومي الكلداني وبأنه العلم القومي الوحيد الذي يمثل الأمة الكلدانية.

يتألف علم الكلدان الذي قام بتصميمه الفنان الكلداني الدولي عامر حنا فتوحي عام 1985م من خطين عموديين أزرقين -Panton 300C- ونجمة ثمانية رافدية تضم في داخلها دائرتين ، الخارجية صفراء اللون والداخلية زرقاء اللون -Panton 300C- ، الخطان العموديان يقتربان من الحدود الخارجية للعلم بنسبته التقليدية (طول العلم = مرة ونصف عرضه) ، تاركين في الوسط مربعاً أبيضاً تحتل مركزه النجمة الثمانية الكلدانية البابلية التي تنبثق منها إشعاعات باللون الأزرق -Panton 300C- فيما تحتوي أذرع النجمة الثمانية على مثلثين متداخلين باللون الأحمر -Panton 485C- تفصلهما زاوية تتألف من خطين متلاقيين باللون الأبيض .

يمثل الخطان العموديان نهري دجلة والفرات الخالدين اللذين ينبعان من الشمال ويصبان في الجنوب ويرمزان للوفرة والعطاء ، فيما ترمز الأضلاع والإشعاعات الثمانية والقرص الدائري الدائري الأصفر للشمس رمز الخير والعدل والمساواة والمدنية ، وإذا ما أضفنا إليها الدائرة الداخلية الزرقاء التي تمثل القمر فإنهما سيرمزان للأجرام السماوية الرئيسة في المعتقد البابلي الكلداني ويرمزان ضمناً إلى حضارة الكلدان وإبتكاراتهم في مجال العلوم ومنها علم الحساب وعلم الفلك الكلداني القديم، الذي يعد أساس علم الفلك المعاصر.
