Statement / Chaldean Identity Under Scrutiny
To Whom It May Concern
I, Dr. Amer Hanna Fatuhi, Formally Reject and Return the Plaque of the Chaldean Writers Union
I, Dr. Amer Hanna Fatuhi, hereby formally declare that I reject and return the Plaque of the Chaldean Writers Union that was presented to me on September 15, 2026.
My decision is based upon a principle
that I hold above honors, positions, material benefits, personal recognition,
or any other form of worldly reward.
The Holy Bible states in the Gospel of
Mark 8:36, and likewise in Matthew 16:26:
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
No honor, title, position, financial incentive, or personal recognition can persuade me to compromise my principles, remain silent about the rights of the Chaldean people, or tolerate the distortion, denial, or disparagement of Chaldean history and heritage.
Let this be understood clearly by anyone who believes that I can be persuaded, influenced, or bought through a position, material incentives, or personal favors: I cannot be won over at the expense of my principles, my conscience, or the historical truth.
I will not trade the dignity of my Chaldean
people for an honor, nor will I exchange historical truth for personal gain.
Those who imagine that they can silence
me, compromise my convictions, or induce me to overlook offenses against
Chaldean rights and history should understand one simple truth:
"They are hoping for the impossible; it’s like waiting for the sun to rise in the west".
I would rather return an honor than
accept it at the price of my conscience.
Principles are not for sale. The
history, dignity, and rights of the Chaldeans are not for sale, nor is our
